Linh Dinh brother, I thought you would find this interesting: (comment posted at http://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2015/11/10-economic-facts-that-power-the-sanders-insurgency.html#comment-2513431 ):

"

A Million Student March yesterday was the national day of protest across the nation by university students marching for the cancellation of student debt and $15/hr wages for student jobs. Locally, in Philly, they tied up traffic marching from North to South down Broad St and from West To East across Market St converging at City Hall for a rally against debt, for the $15/hr wage and in solidarity with Mizzou and Yale against racism on campus. Helicopter coverage and on site reporters interviewed the students, allowing them to get their message across in their own words. A Google news search shows similar coverage from Pittsburgh, Reno, Oakland, Vanderbilt etc etc. The report linked below references Bernie Sanders remarks as an inspiration. One student in front of City Hall demanding student debt cancellation presented the case that since a college degree is a necessity, why are they forced into debt for something that society requires of them to live any kind of life worth living? Necessities of life should not require you to borrow money and go into debt. That is similar to buying you supplies from the mining company so you can go down to the mines and work. Candles and picks are required to mine, so why does your paycheck have to cover that cost? The students are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel!"

Hi bhikshuni,

In Germany, college students only pay about $200 a semester. In the US, colleges collude with banks to wreck many students' lives.

Amen, Linh, my son Dan and his Keystone College (psychology degree)$40,000.00 tuition bill!

It's 7:24 P.M. here, am watching CNN who reports that France has closed its borders. The Deputy Mayor of Paris said there was 6-7 attack locations, and asked by hyped-up CNN gal if he has an indication on who did it, he reasonably stated "no, but the situation appears to be terror strikes."

That ancient saying, Linh, "may you live in interesting times," and I will try not to sound soppy except to say that you're on my mind.

Yo Chuck,

Stock markets are diving again, American university kids are losing their minds and the refugee crisis in Europe is getting much worse with the coming of winter... I just got up so haven't even read about what happened in France.

In Leipzig, though, the Christmas Market is being set up so all is tranquil and beautiful on the surface. There will be a ceremony to welcome Santa Claus to town.

good god, not another charlie hebdo cia-terror attack

having finally had a look at all this--around 140 dead, supposedly--i find myself unsurprisingly already extremely skeptical. if this cia-created and funded group DID do this, maybe the west would take notice of these desperate people whose hate is very real (of course, they're young). but beware of Master: no number of deaths, foreign or 'domestic', is too big, no false flag operation, no brainwashing tactic, is too outrageous. i can picture hollande, merkel, cameron, obama, princes charles and philip, having an uproarious conference call right this minute.

Linh Dinh said...

Hi x larry,

The big question is who benefit from this and what do they want, as far as policy change?

hi linh,
yes, for sure. but it's always the same people, whoever their shadowy asses might be. it's no doubt to arouse hatred in arch-liberal france, for one. france is a true socialist danger to these people--it's happened before (this time of course heads should roll on a worldwide scale, the leaders' of course). france is jewish-controlled, like all the west? extremely ugly stuff, and we're supposed to raise kids in this world. they keep telling us lately up many pending massive attacks in britain. a scared populace is SO easily controlled. who won't be fooled?
cheers

Just in, Anatoly Karlin's "The Paris Terror Attacks."

Linh:

Thank you for providing A. K.'s valuable "The Paris attacks." I appreciated how he clearly said, "Treat everything these reptiles say with utmost." (Note: In Orwell's "Collected Letters & Essays," and on the topic of thinking about & evaluating politics in general, Orwell advised people who do not desire to be fooled, to begin with the knowledge that politics is deception)

For the past two weeks, I am down with a bad cold, and with no more "sick days w/ pay," I am struggling to keep driving school bus every day.

At night though, I am reading Mircea Eliade's 1952 book, "Images & Symbols." While considering the chaotic insanity of our world which has rather INTENSIFIED since the 9/11 attacks, I am fascinated by Eliade's chapter "The Doctrine of the Yugas."

Perhaps Ian Keenan is more familiar with this work? Point is that Eliade, born in Bucharest, explained India's doctrine of cosmic cycles & how mankind has entered the 4th & final "yuga" (age). This is a "dark" one which was preceded by mankind's sorry historical lot; rule by wealth & property, the usual (90%) fate of work & suffering, decline of knowledge & dharma morality, and the human need/want of reality, but instead, everyone's getting served unreality, Simulcast Masters of the Universe shit sandwiches.

"Images & Symbols" published in 1952, Eliade wrote, "Time (yuga present) is black because it's irrational, hard and pitiless." Sounds like Paris, Friday the 13th, 2015? We shall soon see "who benefits" from the chaos and the dark & merciless "safety" policy implementations to come.

Tony Cartalucci on the Paris attacks:

As predicted and previously reported, terrorists who took part in an unprecedented attack in the center of Paris killing over a 100 and injuring hundreds more, were well-known to French security agencies before the attack took place.

CONFIRMED: French Government Knew Extremists BEFORE Attack

Chuck et al, Eliade is always interesting. That we are in the Kali yuga influenced the view that went from Schopenhauer to Nietzsche to Deleuze and onward on human progress or the possible lack thereof, causing Schopenhauer to scedule his lectures to conflict with Hegel's. As Schiller says, everyone is nostaglic about something and the Brahmans and Ediade are no different.

ISIS maintains is credibility as a justification for higher military spending, conveniently for the weapons traders which Deleuze and Guattari said were essentially nomadic and not patriotic. Turkey and Saudi Arabia are feeding ISIS. The Republicans will try to spin this in the US and there's no leading Dem voice that will call them out on supporting ISIS and escalating against Putin, who's doing the right thing on ISIS, since Obama has partially appropriated the GOP positions. Hollande is an elite nobody with paltry poll numbers who's spent his life taking the conventional positions on the neo-lib, pro-EU Socialist Party line with nothing to recommend him as a leader, so he will be trying to use this to prop him up, but the right-center-right parties there do a better job of scapegoating immigrants. Sarkozy has no other effective political message so far as I can tell.

hello,
yes, ian, i watched briefly hollande speaking to the nation, what an ugly spectacle. insipid isn't the word, he reminded me of a corpse. but the first time i saw obama, for his acceptance speech in chicago, i remarked, shocked(well, not really), to my friend: he has dead eyes. schiller's remark neatly answers a question of mine i think regarding kali yuga, namely how on earth did these ancient wise men profess to know? there's also the (hopi at least) american indian notion of the fourth world, which we now occupy before destruction. again with them, how could they know? i don't believe these two notions, though the evil ruling planet earth does seem unfathomable and indescribable.
my very quick glance this morning at the 'news' (yahoo!) had me immediately skeptical: there was footage from above from someone's apartment. he kept asking what's going on. but neither he nor anyone else seemed to call the police. also, no one was screaming. then, more incredibly, i saw a single interview with an alleged patron of the nightclub, who struck me as very calm and collected and matter-of-fact. reminiscent of: boston marathon, sandy hook, probably many others. thanks for deleuze reference--i've never checked him out, but hope to. meanwhile, i've started (again after many years) voltaire. can he save us again?

Ian: Thank you for the reply on Eliade & your objective recognition that I did not seek (from you) answers on the impossible mysteries of existence & how one/anyone (?) really knows all. I understand that although science has amazingly cracked the DNA code, no one knows how it developed, came to be.

Finally, as the Paris event will continue another cycle of retribution, violence, I recall how The New York Times reported the predictions of the mysterious & imprisoned Romanian hacker, Guccifer. He said both Chicago & Philadelphia will suffer nuclear terror attacks in 2015. Kali yuga & global society's having reached the extreme point of discord & disintegration seems less irrational? Thank you once more.

Chuck the Mahanirvana-Tantra says "With the sinful kali-yuga in progress.. people will turn away from virtuous action.. They become rogues who are intent on blaming, slandering, and injuring others.."

Georg Feuerstein: "The Mahanirvana-Tantra continues its description of the dreariness of the kali-yuga by saying that even the brahmins become degenerate and perform their religious practices mainly to dupe the poeple.. The Tantra next reiterates that Shiva revealed the Tantric teachings to stem the tide of history and correct the tragic situation. The masters of Tantra are profoundly optimistic." (Tantra 6-7)

Ian Keenan said...

The Mahabharata says "because of the collapse of truth, few adhere to truthfulness.. Many diseases appear for those who have fallen from truth.. In the kali-yuga the dharma exists by one quarter only." The lapse into untruth is most often described as the primary characteristic of the kali-yuga. It is so hard to even think the truth today, such is the pressure not to will it.

x larry said...

i lie so often. i lie to myself even, but mainly to others. i used to think i was truthful, but that was a fucking lie!
powerless creatures, even we 'truthseekers'.
i'm not even truthful in sex. do i want her? what's that mean? i know that feels great. how much do i love giving though? is it love? is it boredom? do i like men? do i hate women?
i never get anywhere with any of this.
why do i write now?
out of abomination!
thank you kali yuga, perhaps there IS wisdom

Ian: Thank you very much for helping me here, including the Feuerstein quotation which helped keep me "in balance." In late-1980s, I tried to read & understand Eliade's "Images & Symbols" but I failed. At present I am on page 92, chapter, The God Who Binds and the Symbolism of Knots, the first section is titled "The Terrible Sovereign."

I heard US presidents called lots of names for tying the demoralized population in knots without Houdini-egress (unloosening), but I find that Eliade's "The Terrible Sovereign" is rather catchy for the spiritual level I am at. Thanks again.
